Specifically, from November 13 to 17, The Alberta Electronic Music Conference is bringing a five day experience with a wave of panels, workshops, and key speakers. We’re gonna be talking about it a little bit more on this episode!
AEMCON co-founder, Isis Graham, wants all of you to know that, “This year, they’ve programmed our conference to showcase the diversity of talent present in Canada’s industry and to directly confront some of the most pressing industry issues that are shaping electronic music today.”

AEMCON is Canada’s largest professional gathering of electronic music industry insiders, and the event brings together those who want to learn, teach, inspire, connect, and dance. Five days of panels, workshops, and night events will showcase 125+ artists and speakers, and over 3,000+ attendees are expected to attend the evening performances and conference events.
Speakers
Among those joining the fourth edition of AEMCON, aiming to gather, elevate, educate, and dance, include Australian producer extraordinaire Slynk, Symmetry Recordings founder and Drum & Bass innovator Break, German dance legend Paul Van Dyk, co-founder and music director of Bass Coast Festival Andrea Graham [The Librarian], Scottish producer and Anjunabeats favourite Grum, live experiential electronic music performer Korea Town Acid, Brainfeeder producer and innovative sound designer Daedelu. And that’s only a few from the 120 more speakers and artists!
Organizations in the music business will also have their own presentations, like AKAI, Association For Electronic Music , F.A.C.T.O.R, Indigenous Resilience in Music , Knowledge Magazine, Pioneer DJ, Red Bull, Roland, SOCAN, The Canadian Music Incubator, and Universal Audio.

Andrew Williams, another AEMCON co-founder, wants to tell you that, “If you’re serious about taking your career to the next level, either as a producer, DJ, promoter, label, venue, visual artist, or other professional service, they’ve got workshops and panels for you.”
The second wave of 2019 conference highlights include topics like, “The Best and Worst of Being An Agent in 2019,” where the organizers assemble some of Canada’s top music agents to share about the good and the bad in the industry. “Addiction and Recover in the Music Industry Panel” talks about substance use and addiction and how it affects numerous artists especially touring musicians, while “NMC: ON Buchla Masterclass With Suzanne Ciani” finds Suzanna Ciani share about her decades-long relationship with the Buchla 200e synthesizer and the Buchla 200.
“Dance Music as an LGBT Art Form” describes the expression of intersectionality and the creation of queer safe spaces within the community spanning back to the 1980s until now across Canada. “The DIY Feminist Resistance” is where the organizers discuss their activism and art and how a DIY approach her created a metaphorical space for women in a white-hetero-male dominated industry. Finally, “In Conversation with David Oglivie” features an exclusive session with one of Canada’s most talented music producers: Dave ‘The Rave’ Ogilvie, where he’ll discuss his creative process, his studio set-up, and the habits he’s cultivated over his long and fascinating career.
