About Bastian Lorenz
Already young, Bastien accompanies on the roads his father, then member of a group of blues. Sensitive to melodies and to art in general, the thirty-year-old still admires the artists around him immensely. Indeed, guitarists, painters, photographers and composers represent as a second family for the young Dj who, formerly, never thought to be part of it. By humility no doubt, because his talent will be revealed later, after long hours of learning, taking advice and questioning.
With a curious and open-minded temperament, he will spend sleepless nights ” banging his head against the walls ” for the technique to return. Bastian is eager to learn; he wants more than anything to present pieces at once instinctive and worked that resemble him rather than going to the facility and blend into the mass.
Inspiration, he draws on his daily life and his past, transforming his emotions into melodies before moving to arrangements. The bulk of the creation unfolds alone, in the face of his feelings and his intuitions. Even if a doubt, the Dj does not hesitate to turn to the brothers Denis and José Pavli (composers of film music), which he sometimes calls in the middle of the night! Only then does the sound engineer Max the Engineer, based in Brooklyn, who finalizes the mix and masterizes the tracks. Aware of being surrounded by music lovers and talented technicians who know how to make himself available to him, Bastian Lorenz does not hide his gratitude and realizes his chance to have met on his way “these extraordinary people. “
In 2015 for the ASSOM Festival at Dock des Suds, he mixes for the first time in front of a crowd. “I had the impression of being in a daydream; it is important for me to feel a feedback from the public and this time it was great! “ It will repeat the experience in 2016 and dock at Usine in Istres, where he met Pierre Fosco, communications manager of the concert hall, to which it bears a special affection. Will follow a few dates in the region but also abroad, where he perfected and enjoy bringing people around his musical universe tinged with house, pop and groovy voices well laid.
Like any artist, he will experience a period of doubt, but it will not alter his passion for music. On the contrary, this voluntary break is essential to better come back and invest fully in his projects: “The fact that the music I missed so much reassures me, it was not a passing fad … But given that I wanted to go alone, it took a lot of energy until my body did not follow anymore … I was frustrated because I used to go after things. After this introspection, I am convinced today that I am on the road that I need and that is where my fulfillment is. “
And so after several tracks on the labels AuxLondon and MelodicSounds, which he participated in the expansion, he unveiled today a new track, Africa , fruit of a musical and personal itinerary that inspired him the black continent. For a first approach, Bastian undertakes a trip to Gabon in 2017: “The people of the city were aware that I was there and the managers of institutions wanted me to play at home. We ended up organizing an event, and I then mixed in front of the ocean, the sunset as a backdrop. We did with the means of the board, turntables we went to the end of the village, good vintage turntables without assistance, it was magic! “
He is now dreaming of funding for a Wildlife Conservation Reserve in South Africa. Meanwhile, if an opportunity arises, he will return to African lands as a volunteer on a reserve, and also have the idea to make a video to trace his adventure and illustrate Africa , thus honoring this continent that he is passionate about it .
Available soon on Soundcloud as a free download, and perhaps on Spotify, the new song by Bastian Lorenz is free to listen for a very specific reason: ” For me, it allows to give a message. Today, we are asked to produce on time, and in the end to be a little machines. I sometimes tend to call it “fast food” music; we consume it and we move quickly to something else. But in my head, it sounds a bit wrong. By sharing music for free, I feel like I’m coming out of this system. “
As for future projects, Bastian has no lack of ambition with the upcoming release of a piece in collaboration with pop singer Kinnie Lane and Max The Engineer , as well as the composition of several songs that would alternate freedownloads and signatures in labels whose discussions are in progress. Its goal: to convey its values of sharing and union through its music, by putting the heart that characterizes it, and thus be faithful to its motto: “It’s not what you own that makes you happy, but how you make others benefit. “
