About EtcKid
My technical abilities vary widely, but on the show so far I’ve made sounds with keyboards, voice, trombone, flute, trumpet, soprano saxophone, nose flute, bull horn, digadadoo (slide pvc didgeridoo), melodica, kazoo, vuvuzela, the comb, Stylophone, Oktavia, thunder tube, and triangle. In the past, either in live performance or on record, I have also made sounds with guitar and a mellophone. And in the privacy of my own home I’ve messed around on a number of other instruments. Most recently, I’ve started learning the harmonica.
Music has been my primary focus for most of my life, although it’s never fully supported me financially except for one very brief stretch. Instead, I’ve been lucky to be able to get by through a variety of odd jobs over the years, in the following rough order: washing dishes, working as a building monitor, busking, bookkeeping, writing, working as a kind of “consultant” (whatever that means), and most recently running a small video production company. For the last year, however, all of my time has been devoted to streaming and building the channel.
The show relies on a lot of custom programming, and although I’ve never worked professionally as a software developer or studied computer science formally, I’ve been able to draw on skills I developed from doing many different software projects over the years.
