About Jon Rundell
Over the last 12 months Jon Rundell has continued to solidify his reputation as one of Techno’s finest DJs, with a string of top class releases, remixes and live shows.
Continuing with his prolific productions he kicked off 2015 with his debut track on Loco Dice and Martin Buttrich’s iconic imprint, Desolat. The pounding Techno number ‘Freak Out’, made such an impact on head honcho Loco Dice, he featured it on the label’s DESOLAT X-SAMPLER 2015 album, a release acclaimed for its high calibre track listing.
As well as making his mark on Desolat, Jon also released music on the Freemason’s Freemason Recordings adding yet another iconic label to his already impressive productions. Since the very start Jon’s output has been consistent, his music is experimental at times, but always mature and versatile, and he’s never been afraid of making music sealed with a stamp entirely of his own, which is why he’s had such success. Every EP he’s released has gone Top20 on the Beatport Chart and he’s featured on some of Techno’s finest labels including Marco Bailey’s MB Elektronics, Spektre’s Respekt Recordings, Spain’s Octopus Black, Cristian Varela’s Pornographic and Coyu’s Suara. And don’t forget his 2011 track ‘Knick Knack’ which climbed to Number 1 in the main Beatport releases Chart, staying there for six consecutive weeks.
Jon has also continued to drop seminal releases on his own label Etch as well as acclaimed label Intec Digital, which Jon runs alongside Carl Cox. Since being asked by Carl to join Intec as A&R and Label Manager in 2006, the iconic imprint has earned a reputation of international underground acclaim, an achievement that has only further been strengthened by recent releases, including the ground-breaking ‘Intec 100’ EP – the 100th record distributed by the label since its beginning. To mark the occasion, Jon and Carl stepped in to the mix, offering a scintillating two track EP that perfectly encapsulated all the success, brilliance and energy of Intec, with Jon’s driving techno track ‘Utopia’, currently sitting as the highest streamed Techno track on Beatport ever.
Outside of production, Jon continues to be a prominent spokesperson and leader in the dance community, returning as a guest speaker at Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) and the BMC Conference in Brighton, as well as featuring on the B Traits’ popular Radio 1 show, discussing Intec Digital and spinning some of the classic and new releases from the label’s catalogue.
Jon’s music has always won wide support across the dance world, being played by stalwarts of the scene like Richie Hawtin, Loco Dice, Adam Beyer, Dubfire, Nic Fancuilli and Joris Voorn. He’s also been in huge demand for his remixing skills. Currently remixing Josh Wink ‘I’m Talking To You’, he’s previously worked with everyone from the Freemason’s Russell Small (‘Listen’), Moby (‘Walk With Me’), Carl’s last album (‘All Roads Lead To The Dancefloor’) Paul van Dyk (‘In Between’) and Fatboy Slim & Riva Star. Jon has even turned in a Latin Gilles Peterson remix, whilst other reworks have appeared on the likes of Bush, for whom Jon’s remix of ‘Man Alive’ by Devilfish helped the track reach the No1 spot in Beatport’s Techno chart for eight weeks and a hugely impressive No2 in the main chart. Another fine moment for the underground productions of Jon’s.
Alongside all this, Jon still wins acclaim for his DJ sets. Whilst only playing music that he truly believes in, Jon is equally at home in intimate venues as he is in large main rooms, performing at some of the world’s finest clubs including: Zig Zag (Paris, France), Output (New York, US), Crobar (Buenos Aries, Argentina), Kristal Glam (Bucharest, Romania), Sankeys (Ibiza, UK), Tobacco Dock (London, UK), Output (New York, US), Cocoricò (Riccione,Italy) and Blue Marlin (Ibiza, Spain). Whilst major festival appearances include: Ultra Music Festival (Miami, US), Sunwaves Festival (Mamaia, Romania), EDC Festival (New York and Las Vegas, US), Tomorrowland (Belgium), Glastonbury (Glastonbury, UK) and Awakenings Festival (Amsterdam, Netherlands).
