About Los Suruba
Both Delmar, with Spanish and Portuguese descendency, and Alvaro, born and raised in Madrid met in 2001 at Instituti Europa di Design in Madrid. Delmar was DJing with vinyl since his early 17s and Alvaro was mastering the same format with 21. The passion for music brought them together so in 2004 they put up their first studio together in Madrid. Even though Los Suruba wasn’t their official name until 2007, the duo was rocking the decks way before, and without going any further in 2006, they were managing their club in the capital of Spain. Besides that, they enjoyed residencies in clubs like Mondo in Madrid, Moog in Barcelona, Ministry of Sound in London, Club7 in Madrid and Hive in Zurich.
In 2011 the boys moved to Ibiza where they build up their studio making the white island home for them and their impressive 16000 vinyl collection. As producers, Los Suruba managed to flourish four record labels each one with its personality, Suruba, Suruba X, Playa and the most recent one Nazca, each and one of them very distinct with more than 200 releases between the four. The management of their record labels is not the only task these boys do, Delmar and Alvaro design their covers, logos and take good care of their social networking and image in general. As producers, all this hard work came with great reward. In 2013 their track ‘Fayer’, made in collaboration with Edu Imbernon was named ‘best record of the year’ in Spain at the Vicious Music Awards.
Because they are so linked to the world of design, in 2014 they became the ambassadors of the Italian brand “Marcelo Burlon – County of Milan “where they played in four of their catwalks in Milan, at their brand presentation in Japan at Contakt Club in Tokio and at at Festival Laberinto in Patagonia in 2017.
In this 2018 their track ‘Peccio’ signed by Sol Selectas stayed in top 10 during the whole month of June.
Their remix of Rodrigo Gallardo’s El Abuelo released on Nazca.
Also, this year, remained in top 10 of Deep House for nine weeks from July to September. They have released with record labels like Diynamic, Sol Selectas, Nazca, Get Physical, Culprit, Tale & Tone, not to mention being remixed by international artists like Solomun, Adriatique, Clarian, Hot Since 82, Audiojack, Edu Imbernon, Lee Van Dowski, and Richy Ahmed.
For the last seven years, Delmar and Alvaro have been living in Ibiza where they enjoyed a residency at Ants in Ushuaia from 2013 until 2016. Los Suruba were also a part of the historical closing of Space Ibiza in 2016 where they said goodbye to a giant with thousands of other fans. Their versatile style marks their career as DJs as well as their attention to detail and musical selection. Every show they put out is defined and inspired by the energy of their public.
Ibiza meant for them a much more spiritual growth. Their life there was marked by the White Island’s culture, their friends there and also the uprising movement of Burning Man. With all this going on they felt the need to live a healthier life and start concerning about the environment. All this is expressed in the evolution of their creativity, their production and musical selection. A good example is the success and magic discovered during their residency with Namaste at Las Dalias Ibiza during the season 2018.
Nazca is the latest record label they ‘re focusing on at the moment. It’s a unique project that links music with a fictional story inspired by ancient civilisations, the outer space, artificial and alien intelligence. They have been telling their story in several places with exciting showcases that developed a close relationship with their fans. Places like Brunch the Park in and Laut in Barcelona, Fayer in Valencia, Hive Club in Zurich and Las Dalias in Ibiza have discovered the story of the Viracocha and the Nazcas thorough the sound of Los Suruba. Their trajectory looks bright, and the energy they have is endless, Delmar and Alvaro are ready to share with everyone their memories from the future.
