About Rock en Seine
Created in 2003 thanks to the support of the Ile-de-France Region (loyal first partner of the festival since then), Rock en Seine is today the most important rock event of the summer in France. many of Europe’s must-see festivals! Four scenes set in the heart of a French garden welcome festival-goers in a bucolic setting, conducive to discoveries.
2003 – Birth of a festival Wednesday, August 27, 22,000 spectators dance around the cradle (canicular!) To the sound of Massive Attack, PJ Harvey, Beck, Morcheeba, Keziah Jones … 2004 – Two days! For its second edition, Rock en Seine passes two days for twice as many groups, twice as much fun, and a lot more humidity! The festival also opens up to other artistic forms than music with Rockfolio (Claude Gassian’s photographs are exhibited in an outdoor gallery), Rock en Strophes (writing and composition contest) and Rock en Clips (selection of the best clips of the year). 2005 – Three scenes! Third edition, third scene! The site of the festival is growing: the opportunity to offer an even wider range of artists who make rock today. A campground is installed in the heart of the festival: more than 46 000 spectators attend the concerts of Pixies, Franz Ferdinand, Robert Plant, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, The Arcade Fire, Jurassic 5. 2006 – The festival settles For its fourth edition, Rock en Seine opts for a certain stability that does not rhyme with immobility. Improving reception conditions is the key word. Expansion of the site, camping, addition of a giant screen on the stage of the Cascade, decoration, diversification of food stands. The program delighted the 57,000 festival goers who cheered on Radiohead, Morrissey, Beck, DJ Shadow, The Raconteurs, Patrice and TV on the Radio.
n 2015 Rock en Seine took his audience to the bottom of a torrid jungle populated by explorers and wild animals. The festival-goers discovered a space where through the trees and the tropical plants, the Rock Temple was the starting point of a great Treasure Hunt. The Zoological Park of Paris also intervened to raise awareness of the beauty and importance of biodiversity with animations and a photo exhibition by Manuel Cohen.
