Sónar

A pioneering European festival, started in 1994, Sónar is renowned for its unique format and musical program that showcases the latest trends in dance and electronica as well as those artists pushing the limits of musical expression.

With hundreds of artists, performers and DJ’s divided over two emblematic locations – Sónar by Day at the foot of Montjuïc, and Sónar by Night in the stunning Fira Gran Via complex – Sónar is a creative playground, fostering and encouraging new interactions between established artists, exciting newcomers and our open minded international audience.

Sónar+D
Created in 2013, Sónar+D is the international conference that brings together a combination of activities with a common theme: the relationship between creativity and technology, and the digital transformation of the cultural industries involved.

The celebration takes place in Barcelona in Fira Montjuïc, parallel to Sónar by Day, and brings together experts from around the world (technicians, entrepreneurs, artists, companies and researchers) to present initiatives and tools that will shape future creative experiences in the fields of music, visuals, interactive content and transmedia platforms.

Sónar Around the World
Since 2002, Sónar has organised more than 60 events in many different parts of the world, adapting the Sónar philosophy to unique venues and environments, and highlighting the most interesting homegrown talent and the scene in the city where it takes place. As well as the event in Barcelona, Sónar organises festivals every year in other cities. In 2020 Sónar events will take place in Hong Kong, Istanbul, México and Athens in addition to Barcelona, back to its dates in June.
