Freedom. Energy. Unpredictability. That’s the essence of Djaouli Entertainment, a collective carving out a niche for electronic music in Abidjan. While the mainstream is dominated by familiar beats and chart-topping tracks, Djaouli is redefining the nightlife, injecting a sense of raw authenticity and rebellion into every event.
“We’re not just throwing parties. We’re creating spaces where the unexpected happens,” says Seny.D, co-founder of the collective. Djaouli doesn’t just bring a new sound—it brings an entirely different way of experiencing music. Whether in a deserted villa or an abandoned amusement park, the setting is always as important as the beats that flow through the speakers. “We’re drawn to unusual spaces because they make people feel something different. It’s not about clubbing; it’s about the atmosphere.”
In a city where most parties revolve around familiar hits, Djaouli Entertainment dares to introduce new sounds, blending global electronic influences with local Ivorian beats. The collective has faced its fair share of challenges, with many partygoers initially skeptical of this unfamiliar terrain. “At first, people didn’t get it,” explains Lionel De Souza. “They wanted to hear what they knew. But slowly, they started to trust us, to understand that this was something different.”
Now, Djaouli’s audience knows exactly what they’re stepping into—a night of discovery, where the usual rules don’t apply. It’s this unpredictability, this freedom to be surprised, that has made Djaouli a standout on the Abidjan scene.
Behind every event is a commitment to unity and respect. Mask On, a key resident DJ, emphasizes this. “When you’re at a Djaouli party, there’s no hierarchy. It doesn’t matter where you come from or what you listen to. On the dance floor, everyone is equal.”
As Djaouli looks to the future, the goal is clear: expansion. A planned tour across West Africa, collaborations with local and international producers, and an ambition to influence how African electronic music is seen on the global stage. “We’re not just here for Abidjan. We’re here to show the world what this city—and this continent—can bring to the table,” says Seny.D.
With every event, Djaouli Entertainment continues to push boundaries, turning ordinary nights into extraordinary experiences, and making the unexpected the new normal.
