Bxam is dropping a 5-tracks EP full of remixes from Black Space, Mydi Man, and more! Discover new versions of 'ALLISS' a track from is last EP 'Short Wave'!
Bxam proposes us since 2019, a melodic, powerful and bewitching electronic music. This time, he is releasing an EP full of remixes!
On January 29th, he presented us his second project, ‘Short Wave‘. A 2 tracks EP mixing ambient, melodic techno, and progressive electro with as a common thread the shortwave radio antennas.
For this EP he went to draw his inspiration from Issoudun in the center of France where shortwave antennas installed by the ORTF allow the broadcasting of music around the world in a few seconds since the 50s. Mainly used for the broadcast of Radio France Internationale programs to foreign countries, these antennas are operated by the TDF group since 1975, which will replace them in 1993 with antennas called ‘ALLISS‘, the name of the first track of the ep. Almost two months after the release of ‘Short Wave’, Bxam offers us the remix EP of this track.
The remix EP aims to meet producers coming from very different musical horizons, as allowed by the international programs of Radio France broadcasted thanks to ‘Alliss’ antennas.
The first track is a remix of Black Space, a young Swiss producer of melodic techno with deep influences already signed on several famous labels like Einmusika. He offers us a very club version of the track ‘Alliss’, cut for the dancefloor.
For the second remix, Bxam went to Lorraine and proposed to Mydi Man to join the project. It is on a 168 BPM very energetic, that the producer makes us cross many phases, combining bass music and crazy melodies.
For the third track, it is Shibuya793, co-founder of the collective Hanabi who offers us a remix using the pianos of the original track to start. Then, a variety of scales takes us to a crazy break-beat accompanied by bass and melodies with a very raw sound, before coming down gently on the pianos that open the track.
The fourth track… Bxam himself remixed it. For this version, he extends the calm and ambient side of ‘Alliss’ but with a darker touch. Indeed, in the first two minutes, a rather fat bass accompanies the pads that gradually establish the main theme. Then, it’s at the break that a piano starts and brings back the main melody accompanied by a softer bass and almost angelic pads giving a very cinematographic touch to the track.
To finish this project, Bxam proposed to Scheherazade, a pianist friend coming from the conservatory, to deliver a one-shot piano improvisation. It is with the surrounding sound of the piece, that the pianist makes us discover a reinterpretation full of tension, with plucked strings and plated chords, but also full of softness with a very poetic retranscription of the main theme of Alliss.
