Yoko Ono’s art installation at EXIT Festival in Serbia

Post Image

EXIT Festival in Serbia, acclaimed to reveal the art installation by the most famous peace activist and multimedia artist Yoko Ono at the legendary venue, Petrovaradin Fortress in Novi Sad.

The artist announced its arrival to its audience via a video message on YouTube, after the Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic gave the speech for the local children.

Ono’s art installation is titled “One Day..”, inspired ‘by the traditional boat Chaika, used by the Serbian frontiersmen who patrolled the southern European borders with the Ottoman Empire’.

The date for the reveal of the installation was picked no less symbolic, since it marked 100 years since the Treaty of Versailles was signed on 28th June 1919, which symbolize the official ending of World War I.

Together EXIT and Yoko Ono with its art installation, declare the First World Peace, as the only major music festival in the world that supports many communities and humanitarians missions, by inviting more than 200,000 visitors annually.

EXIT at the beginning started as a student protest in 2000, fighting for political change and freedom and to promotes a positive education while throwing best parties to raise for their cause.

‘The #FirstWorldPeace initiative is a part of the EXIT Foundation strategy to improve and preservation of the Petrovaradin Fortress’. Their mission is to preserve the cultural and historical heritage of the Petrovaradin Fortress.

Also, the ‘#First World Peace’ project aims to connect new generations and create a community of young people, using their music and culture in a peaceful and positive way.

EXIT’s founder Dušan Kovačević commented on Ono’s work for the festival’s values and peace initiatives:  “EXIT was the first mass event to gather the young people of ex-Yugoslavia in one place after the wars of the 90s. Petrovaradin Fortress became the Fortress of Peace already then, and it is my exceptional pleasure that one of the most influential women of modern times recognized our social activism and decided to join us in such a significant project.”

Let us know, what you think about spreading the #FirstWorldPeace around the world?
