Today, acclaimed electronic producer and DJ ANNA presents "Journey Into Intentions," a visually stunning short film directed by João Marques, accompanying her debut ambient electronic album of the same name.
ANNA narrates and soundtracks the film herself, taking viewers on a transformative personal journey into spirituality that inspired her exploration of ambient sounds and the creation of Intentions.
Shot on film in Lisbon, including ANNA’s studio and home, as well as the picturesque coastline of Portugal’s Sintra, the film artfully captures the essence of intentional living and music-making. It offers a deeper appreciation of ANNA’s work, bringing together the power of visuals and her ambient compositions.
ANNA shares her experience collaborating with João Marques: “When I met João, we instantly connected, having gone through similar experiences. He not only perfectly understood the album’s message but also expressed it beautifully through his imagery and art.”
Intentions represents a significant shift for ANNA, departing from her club-driven productions and embracing sound healing frequencies and ambient sensibilities. With this album, she demonstrates her boundless creativity and continues to push the boundaries of her music.
The film provides a captivating audiovisual experience, showcasing the intimate connection between ANNA’s music and the mesmerizing visuals. ANNA exclusively used the album’s stems for the film’s soundtrack, resulting in a seamless fusion of sound and imagery.
Recorded at ANNA’s Anaweh Studio, Intentions takes listeners on a melodic and expansive journey, incorporating sound healing techniques. ANNA’s mastery of flute and synth adds emotional depth to the compositions. The album features collaborations with esteemed artists such as East Forest and ambient pioneer Laraaji, with remixes by Max Cooper and Jon Hopkins further enhancing the immersive experience.
The visual identity of Intentions was meticulously crafted in collaboration with Hingston Studio, led by renowned designer Tom Hingston. ANNA and Hingston worked closely to create intricate and delicate 3D-rendered artwork inspired by elements in nature, evoking a sense of flow that complements the album’s sonic landscape.
