Boys Noize releases 'All I Want', featuring Jake Shears. A video directed by Dan Streit and produced by Grin Machine accompanies the single!
Originally, ‘All I Want‘ was a Boys Noize and Jake Shears demo recorded years ago. The idea was to play the track at one of Jake’s famous parties in his NYC apartment. But the single sat on an old hard drive for years until Alex rediscovered it and decided to give it a second life in 2021. This dancefloor track is inspired by classic Chicago house music.
Dan Streit, who directed the videos for Diplo & SIDEPIECE’s ‘On My Mind’ (Grammy-nominated), Charli XCX’s ‘Forever’ and Mac DeMarco’s ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’, collaborated with Boys Noize who had a very clear vision of the video they wanted.
Shot in Los Angeles, the clip is a satire of social networks and superficial relationships. The camera follows a bodybuilder, Brad Swanick, in his quest for perfection. The clip shows his lonely journey paved with narcissism as he tries to build relationships.
Boys Noize explains, “When I thought of a video for this song, the idea of reversing the lyrics ‘all I want is you’ was the first thought. People are so obsessed with their bodies, their looks, their social profiles, their likes, and that becomes more important than anything else. I was a fan of Dan Streit’s work and his fringe and atypical characters, so I reached out to him and pitched him the idea for this video, he loved it and gave it birth. I love me, look at me, look at my pictures, look, people really love me!”
‘All I Want’ is out now, you can order it HERE.
