And because this is such a major annual event in the electronic music industry, for this episode, we are going to tell you what you need to know about the Oscars of the DJ industry!
Theme
Let’s begin with the theme, which the organizers change up every single year.
This time around, they’re promoting environmental care with their theme, “Plastic No More!”
In order to help raise awareness within the dance music industry on how to find sustainable solutions to eliminate the use of plastic, “Plastic No More” is also happening at one of Ibiza’s most popular nightspots, now on its fifth year, Heart Ibiza!

Nominees
Now, let’s talk about the nominees of this year’s DJ Awards.
Past winners include Armin van Buuren, Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, Roger Sanchez, Danny Tenaglia, Black Coffee, Solomun, Jamie Jones, Hernan Cattaneo, Stephan Bodzin, DJ Koze, Frankie Knuckles, Tiësto, Sasha, Tony De Vit, Deadmau5 and many more.
There are a total of 14 DJ categories this year, namely, Bass, Deep House, House, Melodic House & Techno, Progressive House, Tech House, Techno, Trance, Afro House, Deep Tech, Newcomer, Breakthrough in association with Beatport, Electronic Live Performer and International DJ! For all of these 14 categories, there are a total of 125 nominees!
With that, there are 50% more female artists nominated since 2017 and 54% are new nominees!
