Nathanial Hawthorne once said, “There is no season when such pleasant and sunny spots may be lighted on, and produce so pleasant an effect on the feelings, as now in October.”
We love the tenth month of the year because it’s the season for tea and warm socks. But, did you know that it’s also the month with some of the best music festivals around the world?

Boiler Room Festival
Centred around Peckham, the Boiler Room Festival will push the boundaries of a traditional festival. Intimate, raw & in-the-round.
Showcasing a different underground scene each day, the multi-event programme will feature emerging artists from contemporary jazz, rap, bass and club.
This isn’t about the headliners – it’s about the next gen. It's not about any one artist, it's about the communities they thrive in.
What’s cool about Boiler Room Festival is that every day showcases a different musical genre. On Day 1, October 9, it’s all about Jazz with artists like Brilliant Corners, Lex Blondin, and Robert Stillman. On Day 2, rap with Acrylic, DJ Maximum, Finn Foxell, Lora, and O-Dessa. Day three centers around bass with Dobby, Jubilee, Sicaria Sound, Skank & Bass, and Youngsta. And the final day features Club, which includes Anz, Blawan, Helena Star, Shy One, and SPFDJ on their lineup!

Unsound Kraków 2019: Solidarity
And our final October festival suggestion is Unsound, which has a Solidarity theme this 2019!
This is how the organizers describe it, “The theme considers how we might exist at a time when optimism itself can feel like an act of resistance, when history has not ended as Francis Fukuyama predicted, but assails us in a disorienting present through a 24-hour news cycle and the relentless churn of social media. With ecological, economic and democratic systems in crisis, how do we fight isolation and distraction, to collectively and positively imagine possible futures and shared purpose? How do we look for solidarity beyond borders and passports? What does solidarity mean in relation to ecosystems and the beings that inhabit them?”
Besides good music, this event also features screenings of films! Some of the films you can catch are “Honeyland,” “Midnight Traveler,” “What is Democracy?” “Hail Satan?” and “The Brink” to name a few! Check out their website for the full schedule! https://www.unsound.pl/solidarity/events#
