We all love music and we all love movies, but how about putting them together? These are four must-watch dance movies you need to catch right now! If you’re looking for a film to view, here’s for you!
Berlin Calling
Let’s start with a German tragicomedy entitled “Berlin Calling!”
Berlin Calling is a movie that follows DJ and producer Ickarus as he is institutionalized for drug abuse. Initially, he was touring the techno clubs of the world with his girlfriend Mathilde until he goes into a drug-induced psychosis, eventually finding himself naked in a Berlin hotel, and eventually, a psychiatric hospital in Berlin, which puts his album and upcoming live performances in danger.
This film is directed by Hannes Stöhr and produced by Karsten Aurich. One review of the film says, “The movie explores the life of an artist, his choices, his abysmal loneliness, creativity and above all his relations to other people. Even though there are some occasional character zigzags, the movie wanders in our emotions in a beautiful way.”

In honor of Berlin, why don’t you let us know if you’ve ever been to that city!
Eden
The next film is a classic.
French writer and director Mia Hansen-Love had some help from her brother Sven to co-write the screenplay of the 2014 drama. Sven even served as inspiration for protagonist Paul Vallée, which is played by Félix de Givry. He grew up alongside French Touch pioneers, like one of our favorites, Daft Punk! In addition, Daft Punk even agreed to license some of their biggest tracks for the film at a fraction of the cost. That’s how you know they go way back!
The plot chronicles the rise and eventual fall of a local DJ. It’s has the most relatable characters and a killer soundtrack. Grab a look at what we mean! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjHQhnZVlVE
After watching the trailer, can you guess which Daft Punk songs the movie consists?
One Perfect Day
“One Perfect Day” – that’s the name of our next one!
The 2004 film revolves around Tommy Matisse, who is a gifted musician. He undertakes an odyssey of self-discovery and tragedy in Melbourne’s dance music scene.
Something cool? The name of the main character actually combines the title of The Who’s 1969 rock opera Tommy and the last name of twentieth century French painter Henri Matisse. So, you can guess a little bit of what his character is like!
One review on IMDB gave the film a 10/10 saying, “Superb scenes backed up with an even better soundtrack made this whole film a feast for the senses and emotions.” Why don’t you check out if you agree! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZASUECwE-Mg
Fun fact: The film’s main character actually studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London! If you could study anywhere, where would it be?
Human Traffic
The next one is quite extraordinary because it’s a British-Irish independent film that was released back in 1999!
Human Traffic explores themes of coming of age, drug and club cultures, and relationships! It’s also kind of a political commentary.
The film revolves around five twenty-something year old friends and how they interact with the social circle. They also feature a 1990s dance lifestyle recreating the “vibe, the venues, and the mood” of the dance movement!
Human Traffic is really something else! You’ll want to check out this trailer! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_5xwVFVM3I
