We’ve long been talking about how much we respect the electronic music industry for being proactive in using music to fight for notable causes. Today, we’re focusing on Music Against Animal Cruelty, which uses the #SavetheMwithSound. Music Against Animal Cruelty is a non-profit organization with one goal – to aid in wildlife conservation.
But before we elaborate, check this video out to learn a little bit more! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaD0JbGzKfs
About
MAAC was an idea by Jonny White of Art Department and founder of Pulse Radio, Wade Cawood in collaboration with Tears for Tigers founder Jack Baucher. MAAC acts as a broker between musicians, the music industry and music fans, and organizations who are working on initiatives to save various animals facing the dangers of a diminishing population and/or extinction.
In their words, “Whether it be to save lesser-known animals who desperately need our help, like the wild dog, or to help enable park rangers with educating landowners and farmers in how they can safely utilize their land to produce crops or livestock without harming local wildlife, our mission is to help.”
Some of the ambassadors of the cause, who you surely know, include The Martinez Brothers, Jamie Jones, Nicole Moudaber, Art Department, Luciano, Ida Engberg, Adam Beyer, Damian Lazarus, Tiga, Dubfire, Black Coffee, Audiofly, WaFF, Matador, DJ Sneak, Lauren Lane, and Seth Troxler to name a few!
The organization has also received industry support! Some of the names being Yann Pissenem of The Night League, Olivia Bowlby of International Music Summit, Craig Pettigrew of BPM Festival, Nick Yates of Kaluki, Ryan Saltzman of Bullit Agency, Jazz Spinder of FM Music Management, and Iqbal Ameer of Livescape.
Which of the ambassadors we mentioned do you admire most?
October 6
Music Against Animal Cruelty had a very successful event last October 6 entitled “Plastic Nation.”
It was a charity art auction at Sabina Ibiza, where MAAC ambassador Lauren Lane was featured and there were guest performances by MK and Senzela. Richard Madley, known for being part of BBC’s Bargain Hunt TV, was head of the auction, which featured pieces by Irish artist Robyn Ward. In total, $20,000 was raised for charity!
Guests were then encouraged to vote on social media which cause they would want the money to go to, choosing from: Stopping the Yulin Dog Meat Festival in China, Safeguarding the critically endangered Gorilla of Central Africa, Protecting the Orangutan from deforestation and extinction, Preserving the last Snow Leopards of the Eastern Himalaya, and Fight against the illegal trade of tiger bone in Asia.
In honor of the auction, tell us whose art you’d love to purchase someday!
Conservation
And let’s zone in on the two conservations of Music Against Animal Cruelty, focusing on Lion Guardians and the Rhino Conservation in Botswana.
Lion Guardians is a conservation organization that promotes the coexistence of people and lions in Africa. By empowering warriors who once killed lions and working closely with communities, Lion Guardians proactively minimizes conflict and enables coexistence. Their innovative approach has reduced lion killing by more than 90%, tripling the lion population in Amboseli and improving connectivity between the Ngorongoro and Serengeti lion populations in Tanzania.
For Rhino Conservation, MAAC helps increase and protect populations of black and white rhinos in Botswana through intensive monitoring and protection, with a long-term vision of securing wild rhino populations across Africa. In their words, “Across Africa, black and white rhinos are fighting for survival. Botswana could be their last haven and final hope. Rhino conservation Botswana is working with the Botswana government to keep these previous animals safe from extinction.”
Tell us, which of these causes would you like to help out with and why!

What they want is to “build a world in which the unifying power of music contributes to the regeneration of the earth we depend on.”
If you are passionate about this cause as well, let us know on our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
Leaving you with this quote by the Prophet Mohammed, “A good deed done to an animal is as meritorious as a good deed done to a human being, while an act of cruelty to an animal is a bad as an act of cruelty to a human being.”
Let’s help save our animals today with the rest of the music industry!
