As the team from Clubbing TV arrived in Barcelona, the city buzzed with anticipation for Sónar 2024. This year, the festival, held from June 12th to 14th, turned Barcelona into the epicenter of electronic music and digital culture. With over 250 activities, Sónar welcomed leaders from art, science, technology, and music, attracting a diverse crowd from more than 90 countries. We joined the 54,000 people at Sónar by Day, 66,000 at Sónar by Night, and 34,000 at OFFSónar events, immersing ourselves in the vibrant festival atmosphere. Sónar is not just a festival—it’s an international gathering of music lovers, artists, and innovators.
Diverse Musical Acts
One of the highlights for us at Clubbing TV was the eclectic mix of musical acts, featuring both legendary and contemporary figures in electronic music. Sónar 2024 showcased legendary names in electronic music and club culture, including Air, Danny Tenaglia, Laurent Garnier, Richie Hawtin, and Kerri Chandler. Contemporary stars like Kaytranada, Ben Böhmer, and Adriatique, alongside emerging talents such as Judeline, ABHIR, and Ela Minus, graced the stages. The festival’s lineup was a feast for the senses, featuring genres from techno and house to afrorave, baile-funk, gabber, hyperpop, and treggaetón. As part of the festival goers, we were swept up in the diverse soundscapes—from the energetic techno beats to the mesmerizing afrorave and baile-funk rhythms. Emerging artists like Judeline and Ela Minus provided refreshing new sounds, highlighting the festival’s commitment to showcasing future stars.
Sónar+D: Innovation and Networking
Sónar+D, returning this year, was a hub of creativity and innovation. Featuring over 370 artists and speakers, the program included contributions from digital innovation studios, research centers, and universities around the globe. With more than 100 scheduled activities, Sónar+D provided a platform for professionals, curious minds, and eager audiences to connect. We at Clubbing TV were particularly intrigued by the debates on Artificial Intelligence, immersive technologies, and digital identities, offering a glimpse into the future of digital and electronic art.

The new morning format for Sónar+D was a fresh experience, featuring keynotes, masterclasses, and engaging debates. Sónar Week extended the festival’s magic throughout Barcelona, featuring the second edition of the +RAIN Film Festival and OFFSónar’s evening sessions at Poble Espanyol. We explored installations like ‘Liquid Strata’ by Joan Llort and ‘Entangled Others’ by Daphne Xanthopoulou, immersing ourselves in the artistic innovation on display. The partnership between Sónar and the Barcelona Jazz Festival will continue this autumn with a concert by Yerai Cortés, emphasizing the festival’s cultural impact beyond the main event.
Looking Forward to Sónar 2025
Sónar Barcelona 2025 is scheduled for June 12th to 14th at Fira Montjuïc and Fira Gran Via. Pre-registration for SonarPass and SonarPass+D (both standard and VIP) starts on June 18th at noon. The festival will kick off with an inaugural concert featuring works by Steve Reich and Raquel García-Tomás at the Palau de la Música Catalana.
