About Graphite Records
Graphite Records has now been managing successful album campaigns for over 10 years, with the aim to give rock and metal bands a stronger entry point into the market. We take a hands on approach to selling albums using MD Andy Farrow’s vast experience in management; to put together the most suitable team of publicity and promotion professionals with marketing plan for the artist to maximise sales.
With the recording industry in a state of flux, recent years have seen us move more towards a services model for bands to be able to release independently as their own label. This provides the benefits of our experience and expertise in product management, digital, sales, distribution and co-ordination whilst you retain rights ownership and creative and financial control over the project. For a relatively small distribution fee, we can connect to our distributor and the benefits they provide such as Universal’s Sony DADC UK physical distribution channel, export partners across Europe and digital team pitching for profile and playlist inclusion. All behind the scenes, we can also advise and assist with your independent hiring of press and radio pluggers, budgeting for digital marketing and physical pressing for self-funded releases; while soliciting for international licensees and sync opportunities through our contacts and relationships across the rock and metal industry.
All of our traditional Graphite Records releases are licensed from artists on net receipts deals; meaning copyrights are retained too. with the profit splits dependent on the level of recoupable investment required. This model is particularly suited to independent artists who have perhaps crowdfunded their recording and marketing budget and are looking for a more personalised route to general release in the UK and Europe than the DIY digital distribution services out there offer.
Any international labels interested in licensing releases from us or distribution of their titles in the UK should also feel free to submit material and discuss with us.
