On Tuesday, October 31st, the largest Halloween electronic event in France will descend upon Marseille: The Walking Bass. From 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, the Chanot Park will be transformed into a nightmarish psychiatric hospital, complete with amusement park rides and a heart-pounding musical lineup.
The Walking Bass: A New Format for 2023
As the eve of All Saints’ Day approaches, life is celebrated through the realm of the departed. And what better way to do so than with music? This is precisely the aim of the festival known as The Walking Bass, France’s biggest Halloween techno celebration.
Born in 2018, it was conceived as a genuine experience for festivalgoers, with a fresh horror-themed concept at each edition. This year, the team invites you to an insane asylum!
A Psychedelic Setting at The Walking Bass
After gracing the Docks des Suds for several years, this time around, the festivities will unfold at Parc Chanot. Here, the park will be transformed into two expansive dancefloors surrounded by amusements, thrill rides, bars, and food trucks.
Those brave enough to venture in can get their faces painted or take photos, but they can also board a haunted train or brave the rides that might drive one mad.
A Blend of Psytrance, Hardcore, and Techno
In terms of music, Walking Bass has lined up a roster of artists that can wake the dead! They’ll maintain their three preferred styles: psytrance, hardcore, and techno, all merging this year on two stages.
The Main Stage will kick off the evening with psychedelic sounds. It will feature Kokmok, a member of the Hadra Festival, Belik Boom with his international influences, and the trance sensation Graviity.
The phenomenon Billx will bridge the gap between psytrance and hardcore before making way for masters of the genre like Dr. Peacock and N-Vitral.
The second stage will host several emerging artists and local talents from the south of France, including Kepler, La Kajofol, and Le Bard. Additionally, headliners like Maissouille and Neko will take the stage.
