The votes this year may have been influenced by the amount of live streamings, charity events and the social media presence the artists worked on in 2020.
It’s official, the DJ Mag TOP 100 2020 is OUT!
Again this year, the poll was in aid of UNICEF, and we have to admit, this TOP 100 was full of surprises. With the covid outbreak, most of these artists were not able to play at all in 2020. The votes this year may have been influenced by the amount of live streamings, charity events and social media presence the artists worked on in 2020.
David Guetta, who raised more than 700k for several charities, returns to the top spot for the first time since 2011!
“It’s really incredible, I think I feel happier than the first time!” “When I won the first time, I was like ‘OK, if I go to Google search and my name is ten times higher, it should have happened’,” he said. “It’s funny because ten years ago when I won, all the trance fans were so mad against me because it was the first time that trance wasn’t winning — for years. It was the beginning of that EDM era in the festivals.” Guetta told DJ Mag upon finding out.
About the techno artists on the list, no real surprises, Charlotte de Witte, Amelie Lens & Peggy Gou which have been very active on social media, PR newsletters and brand recognition in 2020 are exactly where they are supposed to be!
