The French Festival Family Piknik has made a livestream on the top of Corum in Montpellier, and made a few announcements about this summer!
On Wednesday 21st of April, the French festival FAMILY PIKNIK published a stunning live video session to celebrate its 10th birthday !
The festival was launched in 2021 by Tom Pooks, and is based in the south of France, in Montpellier. This is where the video was shot: on top of CORUM, one of the most prolific cultural spot in the town, used to welcome operas & ballets. While Tom Pooks & Sebass share their high-quality electronic music, the video is offering a 360 view of the city.
This performance is unique in its genre because it’s powered thanks to solar energy. Family Piknik levels up its engagement for the environment year after year. Since 2016, Family Piknik has teamed up with French ecologic crew Projet Ocean Rescue, championed by famous actor Guillaume Canet, with regular cleaning actions on southern beaches and a massive prevention campaign to eliminate plastics from our lives.
“The self-powered set up is a message we want to share with the viewers who’ll watch our event on their screen. If we can make it, then each citizen can thin about how they can reduce their impact on our planet, may it be for energy power or plastics use, for example. » says Tom Pooks.
This video session is also the opportunity for the French festival to make a few announcements for the upcoming summer. While the Covid situation is still uncertain in France, with a blurry perspective, the Family Piknik team remain optimistic and believe they’ll have green light to run the festival on 7-8th of August. « Because of last year ticket reports, we needed to find a way to enlarge our capacity through other events, especially since we had to resize the festival and production costs » says Ludovic Rambaud, in charge of the festival’s communication. « That’s why we had the idea of splitting the festival in 5 outdoor events, from July to October ».
