Peacock Society 2024 : Le public qu’on aime! – The dancefloor we love (FR/EN)
ENGLISH
This year, the Peacock Society reminded us why we adore the night so much. It marked a nostalgic return to warehouse parties, echoing a time when celebrations didn’t see the dawn but embraced the warm darkness of Parisian nights. Our Clubbing TV team, albeit reduced to three from four — with Vicky regrettably absent due to a water-related mishap at another event — was eager to rediscover the festival. With the Olympic Games prompting a venue change from the bucolic Park of Choisy to an industrial nighttime setting, we keenly embraced this transformation, torn between the excitement of daytime dancing under the trees and the comforting embrace of a familiar warehouse night.
The venue, transformed into a quaint electronic music village, felt both expansive and intimate. The larger warehouses pulsed with deep bass, while the smaller, steamy, fog-laden stages beckoned for uninhibited dancing. Each stage, an ecosystem unto itself, hummed with high-quality sound systems, although the main stage’s sound allowed the chatter of neighbors to blend too readily with the artists’ performances.
Upon arrival, we were captivated by the flawless organization: a smooth flow was evident throughout the festival grounds. Naturally, some waiting at the bars and restrooms was expected, but it was nothing that could detract from the experience. These brief interludes gave us a chance to mingle and take a moment away from our cameras.
What we truly loved was the warm atmosphere enveloping the site, like a cozy village where large warehouses met more intimate stages. Patches of grass became the backdrop for spontaneous relaxation, where people sat to enjoy the show from a different vantage point. We found a beautiful harmony in this contrast between grandeur and quaintness, between explosive energy and moments of calm.
Our mission? To give the dancefloor a voice. And that’s precisely what we did, armed with our gear and bolstered by a bit of “liquid courage.” A heartfelt thank you to everyone for your warm welcomes and genuine interactions. We noticed an audience that was slightly older, adding a welcome depth to the experience. The techno scene’s etiquette was well respected: personal spaces were honored, polite gestures exchanged, and above all, people danced—and danced well—especially in the Glass House, creating a vibrant tableau of pure joy.
Our conversations revealed a clear consensus: the majority were thrilled with the return to a nighttime warehouse format, delighted by the appearances of Skrillex and Marlon Hoffstadt, and impressed by the overall festival vibe. The smaller stages, particularly those where sweat and condensation mixed in an effervescent dance, were the true gems of this edition.
Musically, we had our favorites: NOORIYAH, Broodoo Ramses b2b Missy Da Kunt, Mira Ló, Leo Pol, and Léa Occhi captivated us with their energy and skill. However, despite anticipation, Horsegiirl and Marlon Hoffstadt left us wanting more. Their sets, while filled with solid tracks, felt more like a showcase of effective songs rather than a true musical journey. The brevity of festival sets often doesn’t allow for storytelling, and we missed the longer formats.
In conclusion, Peacock Society 2024 was a resounding success: impeccable organization, magical vibes, and a venue that was both spacious and intimate. Our hearts were won over by the smaller, sweat-drenched stages brimming with human warmth.
To everyone we met and shared a moment with, thank you. Your energy fuels our passion and confirms that even amidst a festival’s tumult, the magic of human connection always dances front and center.
Peacock, we’ll return, with high expectations and open hearts, ready to write another chapter in our nighttime story.
Kudos, and see you next year!
