Matteo (Chinese Man Rec) experiments with the duality between feelings of confinement and creativity experienced during the lockdown.
Matteo just dropped a journey in six tracks with electronic and hip-hop sounds! It starts with a chill/hip-hop track to continue with tracks alternately electro, hip-hop, or more marked trap. Moreover, it includes a feat with the Swiss rapper KT Gorique!
The first track ‘BON MATIN’ opens the EP with the magic of a sample captured at the Catalan beach in Marseille. If Matteo chose to start his project with this “morning ritual” it is because these small rituals were precious for him during these last two years, between confinement and stop of the concerts, allowing him to set out.
With ‘TRAP DAY’ the sweetness of the Duduk and the guitar mix with a rhythmic loop, at the borders of trip-hop, abstract and electro, with influences from Bonobo, Four Tet or Fakear.
On the track ‘DREAMS & EVERYTHING’, Matteo is joined by the Nigerian rapper AYLØ and his unique vibe for a modern track between trap beats and cloud hip-hop.
With ‘NOTHING MATTERS’ it is the Londoner Illaman who is invited to play between the rhythmic phases of this new trap track with a dark universe.
For ‘LAST GENERAL’, Matteo calls on the talent of the Swiss rapper KT Gorique: an ego-trip with an incisive flow that juggles many themes on a punchy beat.
The track ‘ZOLFO’ closes the EP in a double homage: both to Matteo’s Sicilian ancestors, who worked in the sulfur mines, and to all of us, trying to explore our inner mines
