Joachim Pastor and Nto
The frenchies Joachim Pastor and Nto talked about their label Hungry Music and their live sets at the Showcase in Paris!
Joachim Pastor, born and bred in Paris, has been surrounded by music
since he entered the conservatory at the age of 4. Joachima€™s musical
interests grew very wide during his 14 years of conservatory while he
was learning to play a variety of musical instruments and while he was
playing in bands. Encouraged by one of his teachers, Joachim started
producing music when he was still a teenager which was a logical move
regarding his devotion to music.
Several years later Joachim met Sébastien Léger who turned out to be a
great a€oementora€ for music production skill development. Soon after,
famous techno music producer Popof discovered Joachim with track
a€oeGailoa€ which lead to releasing Joachima€™s EP a€oeDiforma€ on Popofa€™s label
Form in 2009. His releases were followed by huge support by DJs like
by Sébastien Léger, AKA AKA, Umek, Brodinski, Popof…
Now his music has already been released on other well known and
recognized labels as Mistakes Music, Boxer recordings, Burlesque
Musique, Kling Klong…
Although Joachim finds no words to describe his music, one could label
his tracks as typically a mix of subtle melody and groovy techno. They
could also be described along the lines of a€oeintelligent, funky
tech-house tracksa€ as his fellow Eric Braden from Boxer recordings has
said. But what is known as a fact is that Joachim has his own musical
style.
Nto
N’to was born in Marseille in 1985. His love story with music started in his early childhood with his parents icons. He started learning guitar when he was ten years old and could never give up making music since then.
After beeing a 70’s rock lover for years, one day, he discovered something he never heard before, that was Underworld (everything everything). This masterpiece of techno music opened him to techno and electronic musics. Since 2004 N’to produces his own electro music, while he never stopped making all other kinds of music.
Influenced by minimal and techno artists such as James Holden, Extrawelt and Stephan Bodzin, his electronic working is recognizable by his using of smoothy melodies surrounded by efficient minimal rhythms.
He also composes more hip/trip hop and accoustic music.
