Welcome

It’s another episode of Clubbing Trends here on Clubbing TV! I’m Gianna Llanes, your host. Naturalist and writer Wendell Berry once said, “The earth is what we all have in common,” and as you can guess, Clubbing TV is all about saving the environment! So, today, we’re going to discuss how the electronic dance music scene has been progressing towards that movement with some of the most sustainable festivals!

Boom Festival

Kicking things off with Boom Festival in Portugal, whose mission is in commitment to taking responsibility for the outcome of producing such a large-scale event. In their words, “It does so by ensuring a positive impact is left on both the nature and the social environment.”

Boom Festival’s policy involves the following: adapting to nature and not the other way around, commitment to continually scaling back on the carbon footprint by implementing tactics for prevention of pollution, a commitment to the respect of legal requirements and to other requirements related to environmental issues, to deliver an appropriate framework for establishing and revising goals to protect the environment, and to document, implement, and communicate all environmental initiatives to Boom staff and Boomers in a transparent, clear, and coherent manner.

This year, Boomers assembled at Idanha-A-Nova Lake Portugal from July 22-29 and its program involved a dance temple, sacred fire, alchemy circle, chill out garden, and liminal village to name a few! Check out this video to see what it was like, in cooperation with saving the environment! https://www.facebook.com/boomfestivalofficialpage/videos/263780077666031/

After watching the entire video, do let us know which of Boom Festival’s features you find most fascinating!

DGTL Festival

The next brand revolves their message on sustainability! Can you guess? Yes, we’re talking about DGTL Festival.

In their words, “DGTL Revolution aims to continuously keep sustainability top-of-mind. To meet this goal, we are making fundamental changes to our festival set-up and in our day-to-day activities. Throughout the year, we search for the newest technological innovations to help us reduce waste, lower CO2 emissions, increase awareness and stimulate sustainable participation amongst our visitors. We share progress openly and honestly, and learn along the way.”

This year, DGTL even tried something new with their “augmented reality,” which allowed visitors to determine all relevant locations like stages, toilets, bars, art and sustainability projects through an app. It was a 3D experience for the visitors!

And throughout the years, DGTL has turned itself into a worldwide brand, spanning from Barcelona, Tel Aviv, and Amsterdam to name a few of its cities! Actually, most recently, DGTL Barcelona just released their 2018 aftermovie! Why don’t you check this out! https://www.facebook.com/dgtlfestival/videos/466514767203217/

With that, Phase 2 of DGTL’s Spain invasion will be in Madrid on December 5. Why don’t you let us know if we’ll see you there!

Paradise City Festival

“Respect the nature, respect the castle,” that’s the slogan of the next festival named ‘Paradise City,’ which takes place in Perk, Brabant, Belgium!

Paradise City’s rules go like this: “Respect the nature on site, respect the ground, respect the trees, and respect the water area,” very simple, but necessary to remind the festival-goers to take care of their surroundings while having fun!

Paradise City saves the environment by using renewable energy for their lighting and music, selling only locally sourced and organic food, limiting waste management and going paper-free, providing transportation through hybrid vehicles, filtering tap water, reducing excessive water with eco-toilets, and most importantly, raising awareness as much as possible!

For Paradise City’s lineup this year, they had artists like Goldfox, Laurent Garnier, DJ Koze, Kink, Joris Voorn, and Bedouin to name a few!

In addition to everything their doing, on December 2, Paradise City Festival is also minimising their carbon footprint. Check out this video to see how they’re doing it! https://www.facebook.com/paradisecityfestival/videos/510205336127621/

Why don’t you let us know which of Paradise City’s efforts to save the earth you appreciate the most!

Shambala Festival

And last, but not least, we’re going on “Adventures in Utopia” with Shambala Festival – their next edition happening from August 22-25, 2019!

As “Green Shambala” states, “Shambala is committed to being as environmentally sustainable as possible – it’s in our DNA – and our green credentials are considered pioneering, Europe-wide. We have reduced the carbon footprint of the festival by over 80%, achieved 100% renewable power, become meat and fish free and eradicated disposable plastics. But we need your help to completely design out waste. Read on to see what we’re doing, why, and how you are very much part of the picture!”

Because of this, Shambala is encouraging guests to participate in their initiatives to be plastic free and reuse, manage waste and recycling, use reusable energy, and be environmentally friendly even while travelling, eating, and drinking! One of their initiatives, which is the “Bring A Cup” campaign, even led to the planting of 165 native trees in the countryside! How cool!

If you want to see how eccentric the Shambala experience is, why don’t you watch this video! https://www.facebook.com/ShambalaFestival/videos/vl.2054390388123451/302481323814026/?type=1

And, in honor of the event, let us know what an ideal Utopia would be like for you!
