DJ Paulette

Dj Paulette talked to us about her career and her loving parisian life.

Nominated in the category a€˜Meilleure DJ Feminina€™ in the NRJ DJ Awards 2013 alongside Nervo, Nikki Belucci and Maeva Carter a€“ and playing a house rocking, deep house into peak time main room set alongside Afrojack at the Opening Party (and as an Ambassador for the Ministry of Sound in France), , Paulette demonstrates how well she has earned her position as one of the most respected and loved female djs in Europe. Ita€™s been an amazing journey so far.

After years of studying, clubbing, modelling and dancing in Manchester, Paulette débuted as a DJ at the super successful No 1 Club then quickly scored her first DJ residency at the legendary Hacienda (the 24 hour partying home to Mike Pickering, Graeme Park and Laurent Garnier amongst others) at the Flesh night (1991-1995). She moved to London to take up residencies at React Recordsa€™ legendary Garage party at Heaven (London) and a€˜It Girla€™ her weekly Saturday night residency the Zap Club in Brighton (home to Carl Cox) .

After her inclusion in the DJ Magazinea€™s first Top 100 DJs poll, her dj career gathered momentum as she played at some of the most celebrated clubs, radio and TV stations in London, across the UK, internationally and transatlantically . Granada TV (presenter a€“ Juice), Channel 4 (Miami Nice), Radio 1, Kiss FM, the Ministry Of Sound, Heaven, The Cross, Turnmills, Fabric, Neighbourhood and Pacha UK to Centro Fly in New York all succumbed to her many charms.

Hungry for new stimuli and new challenges and determined to learn a new language, Paulette relocated from London to Paris (Dec 2004) and watched her star rise once again with residencies at Le Redlight (2004/2005), moving to the Mix Club 7 months later (October 2005 a€“ 2009); with her work as the Consultante Internationale for Radio FG in Paris (2005-2007); selecting music for David Guetta (2009-2010) and with show / heart stopping performances in front of enormous crowds at the Solidays Parade in May 2005, Nuit Du Zapping at Bercy in November 2006, Cybernight (Annecy) April 2007, at Marche Des Fiertés for Radio FG in June 2007 and for the RDC Char at Techno Parade in September 2007, then for Radio FG 2009-2011, Technopol a€“ Bastille and char Aphrodeejays in 2011 and Jeremy De Koste 2012. FGa€™s Fete De La Musique stage (June 09), to Foire Aux Vins Colmar alongside the worlda€™s number 1 DJ, David Guetta (Aug 09) and to FGa€™s Technoparade char (Sept 09) (again alongside David Guetta). She has also headlined all over France in the hottest nightspots including Amnesia (Cap Da€™Agde), LC (Nantes), Inox (Toulouse), 4Sans and La Plage (Bordeaux), Les Planches (Deauville), La Joia in Aix En Provence, Villa Rouge and Heat in Montpellier amongst many others

With her french production partner Benjamin Franklin , 2012 she took her first steps into production with her release a€˜Dona€™t Stopa€™ on BK Records, plus the song writing of a€˜ Close To Me a€“ released on Tommy Boy US 2013. Their remixes for Elton John vs Pnau, DJ Sneak and Bright Bright Machines gained excellent reviews and were all high entries in the DMC Buzz Chart. 2012 also saw Paulette return to playing deep house music sets with her PAULETTE GOES BANG residency at Hotel Es Vive, Aux Agités, 4 Elements in Paris and at 20/22 NQ in Manchester. After relocating in March 2013 she made further inroads in Ibiza where she found herself mixing at the prestigious Vista Club (Privilege), doing guest slots on Ibiza Sonica, playing at Eden alongside Duke Dumont, holding her Paulette Goes Bang weekly party in association with Data Transmission at Itaca (San Antonio) and mixing the deep house CD for Privilege Ibiza 2013 alongside man of the moment Martin Garrix and Sem Vox. CHERIE25 (France) have filmed a documentary on her career and her move to Ibiza which is scheduled for broadcast in France in early 2014.

In the office, on the decks and in the clubs, Paulette demonstrates an uncanny ability to understand exactly what music it takes to entertain people with anything from pounding electro house, jacking deep house or eclectic sunset sounds. Paulette has won two awards for dja€™ing but is also very proud of a gold disc earned for her publicity work as Head of Dance Music PR at Mercury Records. She was also simultaneously responsible for the publicity launch for Defected Records whilst she was the Promotions and AandR Director for Azuli Records (1999-2000). After 21 years as an entertainer in front of the decks and a a€˜fixera€™ behind the scenes, Paulette still loves it and is, by her own definition, still so passionate about the electronic dance music that she cana€™t help but share her love, her positive, hi-octane energy, her charm and her dazzling smile. With anyone and everyone who cares to listen.
