While the music industry has long been predominantly male and standardized, it now seems essential to create opportunities for minorities to not only gain recognition, but also to help and support one another. In her LinkedIn post, she emphasizes the importance of this :
“Over the past few months, I’ve realized that there are so many amazing collectives and organizations supporting women and non-binary / gender non-conforming people in the music industry across the world, but many don’t receive the recognition, visibility, or platform they deserve.”
Nikki McNeill is a key professional in the music industry, founder and director of the agency Global Publicity, which specializes in international PR for festivals, events, and artists. With more than 25 years of experience, she supports major players such as Amsterdam Dance Event, ESNS, and A Greener Future in promoting diversity and inclusion. A well-known speaker and moderator, she regularly takes part in major industry events like ADE and Brighton Music Conference.
In line with this commitment, she launched a crucial initiative: a collaborative resource document designed to list and promote collectives and organizations that support women and non-binary individuals in music.
Her goal is to provide these actors with the platform and recognition they deserve, to encourage connection and collaboration, and to contribute concretely to a more inclusive music industry.
“I hope this helps people find like-minded individuals and collectives to connect with and collaborate with, no matter where you live, whether you’re an artist or a music professional, whatever your role in the music industry or the genre you’re passionate about.“
